The City of Salisbury is seeking highly motivated applicants with a strong desire to enter the challenging field of law enforcement to fill non-supervisory officer positions in the Police Department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: enforcing North Carolina General Statutes, working closely with neighborhood groups, preparing and presenting court testimony, and writing clear and concise incident reports. The applicant must be at least 20 years of age, be a U.S. citizen, have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a valid N.C. driver’s license or the ability to obtain, and have no felony convictions. Cannot have been convicted of DUI, DWI, or certain misdemeanors within last 5 years. Applicants will be required to submit to a thorough background investigation, a psychological evaluation, a polygraph examination, a physical fitness test and a medical examination that includes a drug-screening test. $2,000.00 sign-on bonus to be paid as a one-time lump sum after completion of a successful probationary period. Minimum Requirements: • High School diploma or GED • Adhere to an on-call rotation which requires to respond after hours when needed • Must have a valid NC Driver’s License and have no felony convictions • BLET certification required (out of state certifications can transfer to NC) • Cannot have been convicted of DUI, DWI, or certain misdemeanors within 5 years • Applicants will be required to submit to the standard City and Police Department’s hiring process to include the Criminal Investigation Division selection procedure.
