Police Officer – Portland Police Department

Responsibilities:

Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls as part of a team handling over 80,000 incidents annually.
Patrol diverse areas, including Portland’s historic downtown, residential neighborhoods, Peaks Island, and the Portland International Jetport.
Engage with residents and businesses to foster trust through community policing initiatives.
Participate in specialized units such as K9, Dive, Hazardous Devices, Crisis Negotiation, and Special Reaction Teams, or develop expertise in accident reconstruction, arson investigation, and victim services.
Collaborate with state and federal agencies, including assignments to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and FBI Safe Streets Task Force.

Qualifications:

Strong commitment to integrity, service, and public safety.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team and engage with diverse communities.
A degree in Criminal Justice or related fields is preferred but not required.
