Role Overview

VersAbility Resources is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with disabilities in residential and community-based settings. This role is ideal for nursing students, CNA's, caregivers, human services students, psychology majors, social work students, special education professionals, recent graduates, or anyone interested in gaining valuable hands-on experience while building a rewarding career helping others.
As a DSP, you will develop meaningful relationships while supporting individuals with daily living activities, community participation, personal goals, health and wellness needs, and greater independence. You'll gain practical experience working with diverse populations and developing skills that transfer to careers in nursing, healthcare, counseling, rehabilitation, social work, psychology, education, and human services.
No prior DSP experience is required. We provide paid training, certifications, and ongoing support to help you succeed.
What You'll Do
- Support individuals with disabilities in residential, community, vocational, and day support settings
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal care, hygiene, dressing, eating, mobility, and household tasks
- Promote independence, community inclusion, self-advocacy, and skill development
- Provide transportation and assist individuals entering and exiting vehicles safely
- Administer medications after completing required certifications and training
- Implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs), behavior support plans, and individualized goals
- Utilize positive behavior support techniques and approved intervention strategies
- Monitor and report changes in health, behavior, and individual needs and provide assistance with health, medical, and wellness-related needs as directed by medical professionals, nursing staff, and individual support plans
- Assist with meal preparation, housekeeping, organization, and maintaining a safe environment
- Support vocational development, community engagement, and recreational activities
- Maintain accurate documentation and required records
- Provide First Aid, CPR, and emergency support when necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- No prior direct support experience required; training provided
- Experience in caregiving, healthcare, customer service, childcare, education, behavioral support, hospitality, transportation, or human services preferred
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
- Willingness to learn to operate agency vehicles, including paratransit vans
- Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications, including CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration, Therapeutic Options, and Food Handler certifications as required
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

Schedule
VersAbility Resources offers a variety of full-time, part-time, and PRN opportunities across multiple residential homes and programs.
Specific schedules, shifts, days, and assigned locations will be discussed during the interview process. Available opportunities may vary based on organizational needs, program assignments, your availability, and your areas of interest.
Candidates should be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include days, evenings, weekends, holidays, overnight shifts, and varying hours depending on the needs of the individuals served and program requirements.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position operates in residential homes, community locations, vocational sites, transportation vehicles, and other community-based settings. The role requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, personal care assistance, transportation support, and responding to behavioral, medical, and safety-related situations.
Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and support individuals with mobility and daily living needs.
