2026 Police Officer Pay Band: $82,847 to $105,726:
(Hiring Range is dependent on qualifications and up to Step 3 for Lateral hires).
- Step 1 Police Officer salary is $39.83 hourly or $82,847
- Step 3 Qualified Lateral Officer salary is $91,339/year with room to grow!
- Step 6 top officer salary is $105,726.

A Louisville Police Officer will work under the supervision of a Police Sergeant or Police Corporal, and performs a wide variety of police and law enforcement duties. Police Officers are expected to respond to any and all situations that require a public safety presence. Police Officers are expected to protect life and property, maintain public order, conduct investigations, handle traffic enforcement and municipal code enforcement, apprehend and arrest offenders, conduct civil processes, work with schools, businesses and community groups to foster good citizen/police relationships, and pro-actively work to reduce crime. Police Officers must be capable of using physical force, including deadly force, to protect citizens and apprehend criminal suspects; provide medical services, help the mentally ill, conduct searches, and make public presentations. Police Officers are held to the highest ethical code of conduct while both on-duty and off-duty.

- General Qualifications:
- Education, Training & Experience
- Must be 21 years of age at the time of hiring, there is no maximum age cutoff.
- Possession of a High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current Colorado P.O.S.T. certification or will have obtained certification by the date of hire is required. *P.O.S.T. Certified Out of State candidates are eligible for hire but will be required to obtain provisional CO P.O.S.T certification.

- Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of certified law enforcement experience with a similar sized agency or larger
- College degree with coursework in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Public Administration, Sociology, Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Emergency Management, or related field.
- A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Special License, Registration, or Certification Required:
- Certified as a Peace Officer by the State of Colorado Peace Officers' Standards and Training Board by time of hire, or if an out of state candidates have obtained the COProvisional POST certification.
- Valid Colorado Driver's License with acceptable driving record, or ability to obtain a Colorado Driver license upon becoming a Colorado resident.
- Successful completion of comprehensive personal background investigation to include employment verification, reference check, criminal background check, civil court records review, truth detection examination, physical ability test, medical physical exam, drug screen, polygraph and psychological examination.
