About Us
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department proudly serves the two airports of our nation's capital. We are a full-service police agency performing all aspects of law enforcement for the benefit of both our patrons and the employees who make up our community. The MWAA Police Department is one of the largest in the Northern Virginia region, and is comprised of 235 sworn officers, 30 traffic control officers, and 10 civilian administrative personnel. Our Virginia certified police officers enforce Airports Authority regulations, the county codes of Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun, and the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. We work closely with our federal and local law enforcement partners, to include the assignment of sworn personnel to a number of federal task forces. We enjoy strong ties to our neighboring agencies in the spirit of providing and receiving mutual aid support.
